Marcos Augusto Cabrera was born in Uruguay.
His first contact with art goes back to his childhood, when he began drawing at the "Atelier Alberto Raul Cabrera", a studio for drawing and painting headed by his father. Cabrera grew up soaking up his father’s experience, who estimulated him to develop his fantasy and child creativity in an ideal environment, defined by this young artist as "the greatest school" he has ever attended during his long and varied carreer.
Cabrera estudied commercial drawing at the Academias Pitman, and art at Galeria Aramayo, in Montevideo; drawing and painting at the Escuela de Artes Plasticas in Buenos Aires, Argentina; graphic design courses at the Fort Lauderdale Art School; graphic arts at the Tampa City Art Center in Tampa City, at the Orlando Convention Center in Orlando, and at the Broward Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, United States.
He explored doing theater and dance, and had his debut as an actor in the play "Las cedulas de San Juan", in 1975. He attended the Escuela Nacional de Danza, en Montevideo, Uruguay, attended classes at the Escuela de Teatro y Danza in Montevideo, and also studied at the Escuela de Teatro y Danza de San Martin, in Buenos Aires. It is important to mention the rich experience obtained with his studies with the renowned actress Ana Maria Campoy and the choreographer Liliana Churovieski.
The world of publicity traped Cabrera and began working as Art Director for important enterprises like M&M, Unidad Publicitaria y Larraud Publicidad, en Montevideo, as well as the advertisement companies Idea and Envi, both in Buenos Aires.
Along to his artistic and professional career, Cabrera continued expressing his creativity in portraits, murals and scenery design. He also worked as an actor and choreographer, having participated in about 50 different works in different genres, musicals, dramas and comedies, interpreting numerous main characters as well as implementing various choreographies, his talent being recognized by the winning of many prestigious awards, like the one issued by the IMM (Intendencia municipal de Montevideo) in the official carnival competition to the best choreography of 1993, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2001, as well as the award of Best Carnival Dancer of 2000; the award issued by AGADU (Asociacion General de Autores del Uruguay) to the best choreography of 1993, 1996, and 1998, and the award issued by the Media Circle in 1992 and 1993.
In 1993 he was hired to work in one of the most important television programs in Uruguay: "PLOP" (musical humor) in channel 12 of Montevideo, participating also as a technician and also as an actor during some theater seasons with the cast.
In 1996 he settled in the United States to continue his career. He studied theater and cinematography to be the main character in "Prometeo Performing Art Center" at Miami Dade Community College in the city of Miami, and also studies at "Dance Sport", "Broadway Dance Center", and "The Art in Me – Performing Arts Center", in the city of New York.
Cabrera was invited to participate in a tribute to the Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca, dancing, acting and painting on the stage of the Auditorium of the Broward County Main Library in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Cabrera is currently the Director of "Caracol grupo de teatro latino", where he very successfully distributes latinamerican plays and promotes theater writers, gaining recognition and public respect.
In the painting world he has distinguished himself in the american artistic market, obtaining acclamation and recognition, especially at his painting exhibitions that have been held throughout the United States, all due to his artistic abilities and contributions to the hispanic culture.
In 2002 he was hired by an american company as the Art Director, and his designs began circulating in the american market, having participated at many different events of the art and graphic design industries. In 2005 he established his own company, EME Arts and Productions, and he is actively engaged in the developing of such enterprise.
In January 2008, admitted to study at the school of TV production and film installed in the Channel 44 studios in Miami (USA) to start producing and directing career alternating some courses at the University of Florida. In December 2010 he graduated and desided to travel to Uruguay where he sets up his own company(EME art & production) production, graphic design and advertising in general,currently performed directs his company with business activities in the field of filmand graphic image Uruguay and USA. www.arte-eme.com
Marcos Augusto Cabrera today continues studying and expressing his art, developing his painting abilities so he can reveal his inner world already enriched by his intense career. While he is very proud of his achievements and recognitions, he nevertheless acknowledges that being able to develop his art in the most varied ways has been the best award and prize that life has given him.
